What Filipino Would Like:

Beliefs and Traditions in Selecting Philippine Plays

       To be in a country with a conservation way of living, it should really matters how we deal with our society. As a Christian Country,it really matters on the morality aspect in the eye of the societnw. And as a Filipino, God fearing citizen,we try not to commit mistakes and wrong doings,we should follow the beliefs in the bible and its commandments. Tradition has also a big part in the country for it speaks on how we should deal our society ,and on what should be our acts in accordance to our ethics.

      In the Philippines,there are a lot of uncertainties happen, crimes, abuses, etc. due to the economic status of the country. And as a Filipino,we would do everything just to survive our daily challenges. And as a father, you are responsible to take good care of your family. In the story The World is an Apple, it really tackles to the idea and situation of a real Filipino family. As the father, Mario did something wrong just to fed his family even if it came from a bad way. It is not rare to a Filipino family to suffer great poverty and it is often happening to the Filipino society. And it is the nature of a Filipino family to be united and face challenges together. But to the point of Mario , he left his family and surrender to the circumstances given to them.

      Again, laws of the land and devine laws take a big part to a community. But in some stories, the preservation of the devine laws was already vanishing. To love is a great responsibility and to be love is wonderful place to stay. But to love the wrong person is a big no no! . In the plays New Yorker in Tondo , The Three Rats, and Sabina, they point out about the insincerity of love. The plays merely cite some opposite to the commandments of God which stated " thou shall not love the husband or wife of you neighbor " They follow their heart not minding their mind and on what will be their stand in the eye of the society and in the eye of God. Once a man has already a family no other woman can love him nor he will love someone else. But yes, in the stories, they follow their feelings and on what they want to not considering other peoples concerns. A filipino family have close family ties and it should reigns and no one can ruin its solidarity specially if the reason is adultery.

      And here in the Philippine Society, there are weak persons and unfortunate one who became a "play" in the society. No one wants to be crazy, idiot, insane ,name everything. But because they became in that attention ,they should be given much attention,not abuse. In the story Sepang Loca, Sepang was said to be crazy because of some reason. And the tradition stated is the offering of rituals from the mothers who frustratedly want to have a baby and they dances to the saint so that it will bestowed what they wish for. But sad to say it was given to the weak one by the man who doesn't considers her situation. He just use Sepang for his fantasies and being irresponsible by just letting Sepang delivers her baby on her own. As a man , no one should abuse other person for we are only given chances which we should use properly so that we will not regret anything at the end.
